Lost Bearings…

Several structural members throughout the house have lost their bearing; whether from moisture that has rotted the wood, or in this case, a lack of judgement during a remodel. Some posts were simply sawed off and left unsupported.

Its not much, but its there… about 11″ from behind what looks like an old baseboard area.

Asbestos. More demo today, more T&G exposed and waiting on a dumpster.

Adios, fig tree.

It was too close to the house.

Original exterior clapboard siding. On the inside now.

Slight water damage.

Demo work in progress.

Original pine tongue and groove (T&G) plank walls and ceiling now exposed. Some of the T&G may remain intact, depending on plans. The T&G as a wall covering adds to the structural integrity of the house. The beams across the ceiling are made of three 2×12’s and not original. They will be replaced with real Douglas fir beams.

Living area looking into the bathroom.

The foundation. Cedar floor joists sitting on Bois d’Arc stumps and limestone rubble create a platform for the plank flooring. The perimeter beams are hand hewn 8×8 timbers.
