A chimney crown was added, as well as a drip edge, or drip cap on the chimney. You can see a drip edge shadow near the top of both chimneys in the old photo. This detail was typical of the time period; this one is rather simple with one course for the drip edge. Referencing the historic photo (below), we recreated details of the stone cap as much as possible.
